SFW Communications Ltd was founded in 2013 by Sophy Fearnley-Whittingstall to help businesses and socially-responsible organisations make a difference to the Climate Emergency, through clear, effective communications.
Sophy has a wealth of experience in journalism; business communications; PR and renewable energy.
So far, SFW Communications has helped facilitate:
- over 190 MW new solar development
- over £35 million community investment in renewable projects
- 24 MW onshore wind construction with 270MW pipeline shared ownership
As former Head of PR and Communications for Good Energy, Sophy designed and implemented successful communications strategies across the full range of media – including national and specialist press, broadcast and social media.
As a broadcast journalist for international news agency Reuters, she regularly interviewed high-profile politicians and business leaders and reported on major events including G8 summits and the annual meeting of the World Economic Forum in Davos. Before that she headed the Chicago Bureau for Women's Wear Daily, the bible for the international fashion industry.
Sophy has a BSc in Economics and Politics from Bristol University and a Masters Degree in Journalism from Northwestern University near Chicago.
